Happy Sunday! Day 4 of my 12 Days of Christmas is all about Christmas cookies. Every single year, my family spends a day or two baking all different types of cookies for us to enjoy as well as to give to friends and family.
My sister is the star of the show. She amazes me. Peyton is the best baker I know, and making sweets is one of her biggest passions. She prepares all the ingredients and recipes, and the rest of us are her little elves ready to help when needed. 🙂
Peyton made peanut butter blossoms, molasses, snickerdoodles, oatmeal scotchies, and chocolate crinkles – ALL IN ONE DAY! Yesterday she made chocolate chip and m&m cookies. Tomorrow we are making and decorating sugar cookies!
Today I assisted with rolling out cookies and my mom was the ‘clean up crew.’ Some of us also helped by taste-testing. 😉
I’m sharing one of my favorite Christmas cookie recipes that Peyton uses – chocolate crinkles! She has it in her cookie recipe book but found the same one on allrecipes.com. You can find it here! She says to be sure to chill your dough as it makes such a big difference in the consistency of the cookie. They will look something like this when you are done. 🙂
Peyton’s tips for making the best Christmas cookies:
- Don’t overwhelm yourself and try baking all the cookies in one day.
- Use the same dough to make different cookies! Peyton always makes chocolate chip and m&m at the same time.
- Make your Christmas cookies a week or two ahead of time. The days leading up to Christmas can be so hectic. Buy Ziploc Freezer Bags, and place the cookies in the freezer after they are cooled. Simply set out the cookies 2-3 hours before serving, and you’re good to go.
What is your favorite Christmas cookie to bake? If you have a link to the recipe, feel free to share it in the comments below! 🙂 Visit my friend Danielle’s darling blog because she is participating in the 12 Days of Christmas, too!
