Is it just me, or did January just fly right by? Usually the winter months tend to drag on, but I feel like it was just Christmas yesterday! An entire month has passed since I started my 2018 Beauty Challenge. If you’re not up to date, I am not going to purchase any beauty products until I use up everything I have. I explain my entire plan in the post, so I highly recommend checking it out!
I am proud to announce that I bought ZERO makeup or skincare products in January. Yay! I have to admit, it was pretty hard at times. There was a big sale on Bobbi Brown makeup in Magasin, and some of my favorite brands released new products at the start of the year. However, I survived, and I am really happy with how things are going.
One of my goals with this challenge was to have less clutter and a neater space. I stored the bulk of my makeup and skincare collection in two big boxes and kept some staples out on my vanity for everyday use. Interestingly enough, I didn’t even reach for any of the products I had put away! I was honestly content with what I had, and I didn’t need anything else. I might be stating the obvious, but I have found that it is a whole lot easier to use up a product when you don’t have so many options! I should be finished up with a foundation, concealer, and eye cream soon. 🙂
Anyways, here are the products I’ve used up this month. It really isn’t much, but it’s a start!
Nivea Daily Essentials Sensitive Day Cream SPF 15 I really enjoy using this moisturizer. It is one of the few that doesn’t irritate my skin, and I love the added SPF. This is a very simple day cream. It isn’t a miracle product, but it does exactly what it claims to do – moisturize and protect. It is also very affordable. I don’t think it is available in the United States, but if you live elsewhere, I would recommend giving it a try! Repurchase? Probably! This was already my second jar. I do have a holy grail moisturizer, but it is only available in the U.S. I also have 2 or 3 unopened day creams I need to get through first.
Elemis Pro-Radiance Hand and Nail Cream I was actually really sad to run out of this hand cream! First off, it smells amazing. It reminds me of a mixture of a spa and my mom’s signature perfume which are two things I absolutely love. Secondly, it does a great job moisturizing my hands AND nails. I love taking the time to massage the cream into my cuticles. It feels so luxurious. Repurchase? Yes. I have never been married to a hand cream, and I still have several to use up . . . but if I want to treat myself in the future, I will definitely remember this hand cream. 🙂
Elemis Soothing Apricot Toner Okay. This is my holy grail toner. I have been using it for years! I can’t gush about it enough. It smells great, and it calms my sensitive skin without drying it out. Something really special about this toner is that it sprays the finest mist ever. I don’t need to spray it on a cotton pad to get an even layer. I simply spritz my face after cleansing, and it feels sooo refreshing. I also use this as a makeup setting spray! Repurchase? YES. I never run out of this. I always have an extra on hand. I am going to test out some different toners that I somehow acquired, but I still have a backup of my beloved Elemis one!
Rituals Mei Dao Body Lotion This lotion has a very relaxing scent, so I used it on my hands and feet before bed. It worked well! I really like Rituals and would love to try more of their products! Repurchase? Not necessarily. I liked this lotion, but it wasn’t anything special. If I am purchasing body lotion myself, I always just get it at the grocery store simply because I go through it incredibly fast. It is the same with body wash!
Philosophy Silent Night Body Lotion Some of you might remember this from my holiday beauty favorites. This truly was one of my very favorite body lotions! My mom gave it to me around Christmastime two years ago, so it is probably for the best that I used it all up. However, as I mentioned in my favorites post, it has been out of stock for awhile now. I am really hoping Philosophy brings it back next holiday season! It smells of lavender and is so smooth and creamy. I am such a big Philosophy fan and am a firm believer in their products. Repurchase? Yes (even though I didn’t purchase this in the first place!)
Beauty For Real I-Line 24-7 Waterproof Eyeliner in Chocolate Fix This is another holy grail product of mine. It is one of the first eyeliners I’ve completely used up! There are so many reasons I love this eyeliner. For starters, it twists up so there is no need for a sharpener. Secondly, it applies incredibly smooth and smudges easily upon application so you can perfect the line. However, once it sets, it stays in place ALL DAY. Lastly, it still removes easily with eye makeup remover so you don’t have to tug on the delicate skin around the eye area when taking off your makeup. My favorite shade is Chocolate Fix because I think it flatters my skin tone and eye color the best and is perfect for an everyday makeup look. Repurchase? YES, and if you want to try it, too, you can use the code MADISONMAKEUP to receive 20% off your order!
LUSH Honey Trap Lip Balm I used up every last drop of this lip balm. It did a great job of moisturizing my lips, and I loved using it knowing that it didn’t contain any icky chemicals. The only downside is that the label completely rubbed off, but that didn’t really bother me. Repurchase? Yes . . . but maybe in a different flavor!
Did you finish up any products recently? Let me know in the comments below! Have a great day. 🙂
