Happy 2018!
Wow. I cannot believe it is 2018! HOW? Last night’s New Year’s celebration was so fun, and I just had to share a few moments with you all! I barely took any photos, as it was a cozy evening, and I wanted to just enjoy myself.
I started getting ready in the early afternoon after I finished making a caprese salad for the evening’s dinner party. I was so excited to burn my Bath and Body Works candle that I had been saving for this special night. 🙂
The weather was windy and rainy. I normally love to wear my hair sleek and straight for special occasions, but the odds were not in my favor! Instead, I embraced my waves and pulled my hair into a low ponytail. I tied it off with a gold ribbon (actually Nicolas did because I was struggling! Haha) I thought it was actually really pretty and festive!
I love wearing all the gold and glitter I can on New Year’s Eve! I carried my gold clutch and wore my new black glitter stockings. I was also really excited to wear the new winter coat Nicolas gave to me for Christmas!
Nicolas’s parents hosted a BEAUTIFUL dinner party with their closest friends. Before sitting down to eat, we all watched the queen’s New Year’s Eve speech on tv (a Danish tradition.) I was so proud of myself for being able to understand the speech. I spent New Years Eve in Denmark 2 years ago and couldn’t understand a word. All my hard work is finally paying off. 🙂
This is another Danish New Year’s Eve tradition – kransekage. It is a special cake made with layers of marzipan rings. Isn’t it so pretty and festive?
Our traditional New Year’s photo …
and a look back at NYE 2015! This is one of my VERY favorite photos of us. It was our first New Year’s together, and it was magical. I bought this black dress just for the occasion. I loved it so much that I actually wore it again this year!
After dinner and dessert, Nicolas and I headed back into the city to see all the fireworks. At midnight, nearly everyone is setting off fireworks. It is an amazing sight and such a perfect way to start the new year.
I hope everyone had fun last night! Did you celebrate in your pajamas and watch a good movie, or did you get all dressed up and party? Let me know in the comments below. 🙂 Both sound lovely to me! I wish you all a happy and healthy 2018! I am looking forward to seeing what the new year has in store. Have a great week!

Happy New Year! You guys are such a beautiful couple 💕 Sometimes it’s good to put the camera down. I didn’t take my camera with me at all at New Years because I really wanted to enjoy the time and say goodbye to 2017.

Happy belated New Years Madison! New Years Eve is a wedding anniversary, this year it was our 29th. We didn’t do anything or go anywhere and I am fine with that. Bitter cold, still, here.
You looked so lovely, smiles.
