DIY Easter Tree + My Easter Home Decor

Hi, friends! With everything going on in the world and Nicolas and I spending most of our time at home, I wanted to make everything bright and cheery for Easter! I started with this Easter tree which I love very much. This tradition originated in Germany, but I’ve seen many people in Denmark do it as well! If you’re in the U.S. or any other country, please let me know if you have decorated one before. 🙂 Here is what I did. (It was very simple!)

  1. Gather some sticks and/ or branches. I just found these in my backyard. My mom also had some decorative branches from the craft store which she let me borrow!
  2. Arrange the branches in a vase. Any vase will work, but you may need to trim a few of your branches depending on how long they are. If you’re having a tough time getting the branches to stay put, add some stones or sand to the bottom of the vase to help hold them in place.
  3. DECORATE! I’ve seen many people make their own Easter ornaments out of paper, ribbon, clay, hollowed eggs, etc. However, I actually purchased some because I had my heart set on these vintage wooden ones I found on Etsy from The Permission Cottage. Additionally, I used a few bigger egg ornaments from Michael’s.

I was so pleased with how this turned out! My best advice is to not strive for perfection. It is supposed to look natural, rustic, and cozy. Meget hyggeligt. 🙂 The yellow floral afghan in the photos above was made by my great grandmother, and I think it really brightens our living room. ALSO, you might’ve noticed the itty bitty pup in one photo, too. That is Draper, and Nicolas and I just adopted him!!! We are so in love and so very excited to be parents.♡

Below I’m sharing some photos of our new home and how I decorated it for Easter. I’ve had some of these decorations since I was a little girl, and the spring tea set belonged to my grandma. My mom also gave me a few new decorations this year to celebrate our first Easter here, and my sweet aunt gave us the beautiful wreath as a housewarming present.

I’d really love to hear how you’re planning on celebrating Easter this year! It will certainly be an Easter like we’ve never had before with no church service and no visits with extended family members or friends. Nicolas and I are planning on having a nice brunch with my parents. (The only people we have seen in the past 3 weeks are my immediate family members. We’ve all been self-isolating, and they live just five minutes down the road from us.) Maybe the Easter Bunny will visit Draper. 🙂  I hope you are all SAFE and HEALTHY!

xx, Madison
