Saying Goodbye

Last week, I shared the exciting news in this post that my family moved! It has been a crazy past few weeks, but now we are finally settled in and really enjoying the new home and city. ๐Ÿ™‚ Before I share my new bedroom with you all, I wanted to give a proper goodbye to my old bedroom (which I actually never shared on the blog!) This post is a bit personal, and I am writing it for myself to remember this special place. Feel free to read along if you’re interested. ๐Ÿ™‚

We moved into our previous home when I was just eight years old, so I pretty much grew up in this bedroom. As I grew and changed, my room changed, too. First, it was lime green, orange, and hot pink with Hilary Duff and High School Musical posters plastered all over the walls. After that it was (briefly) different shades of purple. When I was in middle school, I was into the ‘hippie’ look, and my room very much reflected that along with lots of beach decor. This is also when I painted my walls their signature Tiffany blue. I LOVED it. As I matured, I finally bought a plain white comforter and inherited a much more minimalistic decorating style (thanks mom.) I became obsessed with Audrey Hepburn and got my Breakfast at Tiffany’s canvases and pillow (which I still have and are in my current bedroom, too!)

Let us all take a second to appreciate the fact that I used to whiten my bedroom walls to match my Instagram theme . . .

My bathroom walls were also Tiffany blue. I loved this shower curtain so much! It made me feel like I was at the beach even on the coldest winter days. ๐Ÿ™‚

And this is my bedroom all packed up and ready for the next little girl that is moving in. Closing the door and saying goodbye to my little space was very hard, as I am a super sentimental person! Thankfully I have so many moments to look back on. From laying on my bed and listening to Taylor Swift’s debut album in my CD player until I memorized all the lyrics to Nicolas knocking on my bedroom door and surprising me by flying across the ocean without me knowing . . . Sooo many memories! Eight year old Madison thought that butterfly ceiling fan was the coolest thing ever.

Goodbye, pretty white house with black shutters. I will miss you and especially the front porch on summer mornings. Onto the next adventure!

I don’t share many personal things on the blog, but I really wanted to write this post! Have you ever moved? Do you miss your childhood home? Let me know in the comments below. Have a great day!
Madison

It is always hard to pack up and move but you have been amazing packing up and moving half way around the world to be with your young man. You will always have your memories.

I’m very sentimental as well, Madison. It’s hard to say goodbye to a home you have lived in most of your life! Growing up I shared a room with my two sisters. At the time I didn’t like it, but now I realize how very special it was for us. Love your Aubrey Hepburn poster! โ™ฅ

Congrats on moving out. I bet it is so weird to leave everything, and go somewhere else.

We moved the spring before I turned 8 and my parents still live in that house. But when I was 12 my grandparents sold their house and I cried when I got the news. For whatever reason, it was just devastating to me at the time. Fondness for space is a thing for sure. I am glad you were able to say goodbye. (Also Tiffany and Co is life. That’s all.)
