Hot Chocolate Cookies // 12 Days of Christmas Day 2

Happy Day 2 of my 12 Days of Christmas! If you missed yesterday’s post, you can catch up here! Today I am sharing a yummy recipe I tried this past weekend. These are hot chocolate cookies, and I actually used two different types of real hot chocolate to make them! You can serve them at your next holiday party, give them away in a little Christmas tin as a gift, or even set them out for Santa.

I followed this recipeΒ from Cookies & Cups, but adjusted it a teeny bit. πŸ™‚ As I mentioned, the recipe calls for 1/2 cup of powdered hot chocolate mix, which is great because I am pretty sure everyone has some in their kitchen this time of year! (I actually had some left over from last winter!)

After mixing up the batter, you can add the mix-ins of your choice. The recipe recommends chocolate chips and marshmallow bits. However I actually used some Hotel Chocolat hot chocolate, as it is real chocolate flakes that you would normally melt into warm milk. It is a perfect fancy substitute for chocolate chips! Hotel Chocolat has so many flavors of hot chocolate such as gingerbread spice, 100% dark, and salted caramel, so the possibilities are endless!

I served the cookies with a dusting of powdered sugar and a glass of hot cocoa topped with whipped cream and sprinkled with the chocolate flakes (because you can never have too much chocolate πŸ˜‰ .)
Β

Have a wonderful day! Let me know in the comments below what YOUR favorite Christmas cookie is!

Madison

Today’s Yankee Candle from the 12 Day’s of Christmas candle collection is Mistletoe which smells like fresh pine needle, sweet clove, and spice. I love it! Today’s tea from my 24 Days of Tea calendar is Drops, a blend of anise, cardamom, and fennel. I didn’t know what anise was, so I looked it up. It is a Mediterranean plant in the parsley family. I think this will be an interesting tea to try! Don’t forget to go check out my mom’s Day 2 post today which is all about Christmas pjs. πŸ™‚

Ooooh, these cookies look and sound amazing! Just last night I stocked up hot cocoa so I could definitely whip up some of these tasty treats with my son πŸ™‚ Thank you for sharing, dear Madison.

And as for a favorite cookie….my mom would always make candy cane cookies. The dough is divided and colored – one white and one red. Then the dough is twisted together to form a candy cane and crushed peppermint is sprinkled on top. Mmmm….they are so good!

Hugs to you! Stephanie-The Enchanting Rose

My favorite cookie is a peppermint meltaway and I am going to make some this weekend! I have made hot chocolate cookies in the past and they are so yummy. I use a slightly different recipe than you, but I think I will try yours ASAP.
