Decorating the Tree // 12 Days of Christmas Day 10

WOW! We are so close to Christmas! I cannot believe it. I had such a lovely day decorating the Christmas tree with Nicolas’s family. I had never decorated a real tree before, and it was so fun to see it being carried into the house and set up.

We actually started by putting the star on top. It was Nicolas’s year to do it, but he was unfortunately working today. I got to be the stand-in. (Lucky me 🙂 ) I stood on a chair, and Nicolas’s dad bent the top of the tree so I could reach it. It was just too tall!

Next up was ornaments. Nicolas’s mom has a beautiful collection filled with lots of red and gold colors as well as many handmade ornaments she has received from her children throughout the years and some given to them by Nicolas’s grandparents. It was so special to hear each ornament’s story. 🙂

Something unique about Christmas trees in Denmark is that many people still decorate with actual candles! They are typically white, and we placed them in little gold candle holders that can be hung on the tree. On Christmas Eve, the candles are lit, and it is a very special moment. I can’t wait to experience this!

Ta-da! Isn’t it so pretty? I especially love the little Santa ornament hanging in the middle of the tree. 🙂

I also wanted to share this little elf village Nicolas’s mom has set up in the living room. I think it is too cute!

Afterwards, Nicolas’s mom and I went for a walk around the block and admired all the Christmas decorations and lights. It was so cozy to see Christmas trees through people’s windows. I also loved how the main street was decorated.

I am so grateful for today. It was the perfect way to start the holiday weekend. I bought my very last Christmas present this evening and have all of my gifts wrapped! My mom sent me this photo and said it reminded her of me. 🙂 If only I had that beautiful pink coat! I love Heather Sitllufsen’s illustrations.

Enjoy the rest of your day! I am waiting for Nicolas to get home from work so we can watch a Christmas movie. What is your favorite holiday film? Let me know in the comments below! I have a few … Christmas With the Krank’s, Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, and of course the classics like Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph! I could go on forever! Haha

Today’s tea is Hello, Sofa! I absolutely love the name of this tea. It is a blend of spicy chai and matcha. Yum! Today’s candle is red apple wreath. It of course smells like apple as well as cinnamon, clove, and brown sugar. 🙂 Have you checked out my mom’s blog and her friend Danielle’s yet? They are joining me in the 12 Days of Christmas and have shared so many festive posts! 🙂
