5 Hours in Milan

Yes, this is another Italy post! (I told you I took a lot of photos. 🙂 ) If you missed my previous ones, you can check them out here.

We stayed in Bergamo which is about a 45 minute train ride away from Milan. We took the train there on a sunny, October afternoon and really enjoyed ourselves. Milan is such a big city so of course we couldn’t see it all. However, I was so delighted with all we managed to explore in our short five hours there.

This is the Palazzo Marino, a beautiful palace built in the 1500’s. It has been Milan’s city hall for many, many years.

To the right of the palace is the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. This is Italy’s oldest shopping mall!

The roof is made of glass and iron, allowing the sun to shine through and light up the entire mall. This was certainly the fanciest shopping center I have ever been in.

Speaking of fancy, the galleria is home to so many incredible shops. I had never seen so many luxury brands in one place! Each window display was more beautiful than the next.

I could not visit Milan without visiting Duomo di Milano. The second I saw this amazing cathedral, it took my breath away. This is one of the largest churches in the world! Duomo di Milano took almost six centuries to complete, and it is easy to see why!

Unfortunately, there was an extremely long line to see the inside of the cathedral so we just admired it from the outside. (I am not complaining because it gives me a reason to visit again. 😉 )

Afterwards, we did a little shopping and simply enjoyed walking the streets of Milan. All the walking made me extremely hungry! We stopped at a little sandwich shop, and I swear this was one of the best sandwiches ever. However, I am not sure if it was because I was positively famished . . . or if it was just really that good. 🙂

Prosciutto, mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes, pesto . . . Mmm!

And that was our day in Milan! Believe it or not, I still have a few more experiences to share from Italy. Stay tuned. 🙂 Have a great week!

Madison
