Wearable Halloween Makeup // Easy and Glamorous

Last night, Nicolas and I had plans to go to Tivoli to see all the Halloween decorations and activities. (I did a post on it last year that you can read here. It is quite spooky and magical!) We also planned on going out to dinner first. I wanted to be festive and play around with my makeup but still stay within the ‘wearable’ category, as it wasn’t a costume party or anything crazy. 🙂  That’s how this glam makeup look came about. It only took me around 20 minutes, and I LOVE how it turned out. Follow the steps below if you want to get into the spirit, too!

1. The Basics

Start by using your everyday face products. I don’t like to mess around with a new primer or foundation when I’m going out or doing something elaborate with my eyes. If something goes wrong, at least I know my skin will look good! 😉 I used my It Cosmetics CC Cream and Bye Bye Undereye along with their Brow Power Universal Brow Pencil in Taupe. I set the brows with my Full Brow Brow Wax. Once your complexion and brows are finished, you’re ready to get into the fun stuff! *Note: If you tend to be a little messy with your eyeshadow, feel free to wait with concealer until after the eyes are finished to clean up.

2. Eyelid and Crease Color

To create a base and map out the eyes, use two cream eyeshadow sticks – one light and one dark. I use Beauty For Real’s Shadow Stx in Ever Starstruck (a shimmery cream shade) and All Day Latte (a deep purple shade). Take the lighter shade all over the lid and the dark shade just in the crease. Blend with your finger. This will give you an idea of where to place your powder shadow and also gives the powder shadow something to stick to.

I just got back from Italy and picked up some powder eyeshadows from Kiko Cosmetics while I was there. I LOVE THEM. They are super shimmery and blend beautifully. First apply a dark grey/purple shade like Kiko’s Smart Colour Eyeshadow in no. 8 Pearly Taupe through the crease. Then use your finger to apply a warm, bronze tone like Kiko’s no. 12 Smart Colour Eyeshadow all over the lid. The name of the no. 12 eyeshadow is Metallic Rosy Sand, but it definitely has some orange undertones. These two colors paired perfectly together for a halloween look!

3. Inner and Outer Corner

Next up, it’s time to define the eyes even more. Take a shimmery black shade and apply it to the outer ‘v’ of the eye. Blend the color upwards and out for the most flattering look. I use Sephora Collection Colorful Eyeshadow in the shade My Little Black Dress No. 303 (isn’t that the cutest name ever?). Use a black eyeliner to define the lash line. I like Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion. It’s the blackest black and very blendable. On a liner brush, pick up some more of the Sephora eyeshadow and smoke out the eyeliner. Softly wing out the edge for a cat-eye effect. Finally, use a white shimmery shade to highlight the inner corner and brow bone. I’ve been loving the Kiko Smart Colour Eyeshadow in shade no. 1 Metallic Rosy White. Top it all off with a couple coats of mascara. I used the Beauty For Real Hi-Def Mascara in Just Black.*Note: To make your eyeshadow look flawlessly sharp, take a little concealer on a concealer brush and clean up the outer edge with an upwards sweep of the brush. You can also clean up any fall out under the eyes as well.

4. Lips

I wanted to create a super vampy lip, and these Beauty For Real products did just that. First line your lips and fill them in with a lipliner. This helps whatever you’re putting on top last longer and also makes your lips look fuller. I like the Beauty For Real D-Fine Lip Pencil because it compliments my natural lip color and goes with everything! Next up is the star of the show – Beauty For Real’s Lip Gloss + Shine in Sugar Plum. This lip gloss is perfect for this time of year. It’s a very deep burgundy with a hint of gold shimmer! Pairing these eyes with a bold, dark lip is really what takes this look to the next level and gives off a festive vibe.

5. Cheeks

I wanted to keep the cheeks super simple since there is already so much going on with the eyes and lips. Simply contour your cheekbones with a matte bronzer. Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzer is a great option. For highlight, I used the same Kiko eyeshadow. It worked amazing and looked so beautiful dusted on the high points of my face. *Note: This works well for me because I am very fair. If you have a deeper skin tone, I recommend using something a little more golden to avoid looking ashy.

And we are done! Here’s the completed look … topped off with my spiderweb scarf of course!
