Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! This past Sunday, I hosted my first ever Thanksgiving dinner with the help (ok, he did more than help) of Nicolas for his wonderful family. Just because I am overseas does not mean that I will ever skip out on one of my favorite days of the year, not to mention the leftover turkey sandwiches! The evening was nice and cozy, and I was so happy to share some of my favorite American traditions with them.
I kept the meal fairly simple, compiling some of my mom’s favorite recipes along with some recipes I found online (I will list the ones I can at the end of the post.) After watching my mom decorate the table and prepare the food for so many years, I was so eager (and nervous) to try it myself! I began preparation the day before making the appetizer and desserts. We also decided to go with turkey breasts instead of a whole turkey for obvious reasons. 🙂 Everyone helped pull the meal together (including my mom and dad via FaceTime), and I was SO pleased with how it turned out!
Thanksgiving Menu
Appetizer:
Orange cranberry muffins (and bread from leftover batter)
Sides:
Cranberry sauce (I like canned best 🙂 )
Traditional turkey stuffing
Green bean and tomato salad
Red cabbage coleslaw
Mashed potatoes
Entrée:
Herb roasted turkey breast with gravy
Dessert:
Pumpkin pie streusel bars with whipped cream
This year I am so thankful for another wonderful year Nicolas and I have spent together, his sweet family, the opportunities life has blessed me with, and my amazing family at home that I will be seeing in a few short weeks! I hope you all have a great holiday with family and friends, and thanks for stopping by Breakfast at Madison’s again 🙂
