Simple and Sophisticated New Years Eve Makeup

Hey, ladies (and gents)! New Years Eve is one of my favorite nights of the year. There is something so magical about getting all dressed up, sipping champagne, and kissing at the stroke of midnight. Every woman deserves to ring in the New Year feeling like a queen, and I created this simple and quick makeup look to do just that! (Seriously, this took me 15 minutes tops.)

The look I created is sophisticated and minimalistic. The focus is on the lips which I paired with a GORGEOUS shimmery eye. I kept the skin glowy and fresh to give a more natural look. I am so happy with how it turned out. Also, after just recently graduating from makeup artist school, I’m excited to finally be sharing a beauty post with you all. Follow the steps below to see how I did this festive look. ๐Ÿ™‚

1. The preparation of the skin is one of the most important parts of any makeup look and should never be neglected. Start off with a lightweight moisturizer and massage it into your skin. I like this one from Mary Kay because it works for all skin types and is a great base for your foundation. Next, take 1-2 drops of a facial oil (Josie Maran is the best) and apply it over top of any dry patches and anywhere you want some added glow. Lock in all that moisture and prep skin for foundation with a facial mist or setting spray.ย  Continue Reading

My Danish Christmas Favorites

Copenhagen is one of the coziest cities ever so you can imagine just how perfect it is at Christmastime. I was lucky enough to be able to experience some Danish Christmas traditions and see Copenhagen beautifully decorated for the holiday season before coming home for Christmas. I made a list of the traditions, places, and treats I love the most. ๐Ÿ™‚

1. Christmas Markets

I am pretty sure Nicolas and I visited a total of FIVE Christmas markets in Copenhagen. They are everywhere, and I cannot begin to describe how festive and unique each and every one was. There were so many vendors, yummy treats, decorations, and music. SO cozy.

Decking the Halls

Decorating is one of my very favorite things to do – especially for Christmas. I love making everything festive and cozy. With the help of both our sweet moms and a few shopping trips to some cute stores in Copenhagen, Nicolas and I decorated his apartment for Christmas. I love all the cute little elves, red and gold accents, and vintage-looking pieces. ๐Ÿ™‚ I was so, so happy with how it turned out!

A New York Christmas

It has always always ALWAYS been a dream of mine to see the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center, and it just so happened that Nicolas and I were spending a night in New York City on our way to Pennsylvania for the holidays. Despite our jet lag and the below-freezing temps, Nicolas was determined to make sure that I saw the tree. We woke up early in the morning and had an amazing breakfast at the Tick Tock Diner (highly recommend). We bundled up and took in all the beautiful sights there are to see in New York during the holiday season. When we finally reached Rockefeller Center, I nearly cried! The tree was so beautiful – just like the movies (i.e. ELF ๐Ÿ™‚ ). We passed the Empire State Building on our way to Penn Station. My fingers were literally frozen, so I kept the photo-taking to a minimum. ๐Ÿ™‚

A Present Wrapping Party

YAY my first Christmas post!!! Although I’ve been in the Christmas spirit since the first of November, I think it is finally socially acceptable to upload a holiday themed post now. Last night, Nicolas and I had a “Present Wrapping Party”. My mom always made wrapping Christmas presents together so fun and cozy, so I wanted to carry on the tradition. I lit lots of candles, put on some Christmas music, and made hot chocolate with lots of whipped cream. ๐Ÿ™‚
